8 Maids a Milking

12 Days of Christmas

Good Monday Morning to everyone.

The days are long but they are certainly a blur!

Popping in today to offer the next Punch to the Twelve days of Christmas.
We are now up to 8.
This is a three strand punch, using DMC for detail and Valdani for the background.

I have many inquiries on whether I have the full set. I don't, sorry! My original plan was a punch a month so I have been designing only one a month.

They are all the same size, and the colors blend so that they will
fit together nicely when we are done.

They are available as a digital download.
Pattern Printed alone by snail mail.
You may also choose whether you would like it already printed on weavers cloth, or opt for the pattern with a blank fat quarter of weavers cloth.

The new pattern is now available in my Cottage Etsy Store:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/briarcottage

Wishing every a wonderful first day of summer! ENJOY,

Kate

12 days of Christmas Duo

Two Pattern Offering

"Five Golden Rings"

"Six Geese A Laying"

This month I am offering Two of the Twelve days of Christmas Patterns. My thinking is that it will pull us ahead, so we won't be rushed in the Holiday Season.

They are both 3 strand punches
using DMC for details and Valdani 100% Colorfast, Hand dyed Perle Cotton for background.

All the Patterns are the same size for finishing purposes (7 1/4" wide  x 5 1/2" High).

If I could, I have been asked if I could revise the patterns into ornaments, What a wonderful idea! Thank you for mentioning it! Is there an interest in having ornaments on the Twelve Days of Christmas? Please let me know in the comments.

We woke to a dusting of snow this morning, Yuk! I'm off to Punch a very colorful spring pattern this morning in hopes that it will arrive here very soon.  The white stuff is beautiful, but I'm ready for the Garden and the smell of warm earth.

Happy Punching,
Kate

Four Calling Birds

"Four Calling Birds"
Twelve Days of Christmas

We are now on the 4th day of Christmas, a folk art rendition of four pheasants. I never realized there were so many birds in the twelve days of Christmas. I've sang, in my head only, since I am a horrible singer, since I was a child, who knew?

This is a 3 strand punch, using DMC for detail and Valdani for the Background. I do this on most of my patterns. The Valdani is so nice in the backgrounds for non threading, being that it's a continuous ball plus the colors are beautiful in the variegations.
Before we get too far with the punches. I also wanted to let you know that I am backing each one with wool in various colors. The finish will include these backings.

I hope you are enjoying the one a month twelve days, I am having so much fun designing them!

Happy Punching,

It is now available in my Etsy shop:

Two Turtle Doves

"Two Turtle Doves"

As promised the second addition to the 12 days of Christmas.
Keeping to the Folk Feel and the earthy tones.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_turtle_dove
Smaller and slighter in build than many other doves
the European turtle dove may be recognised by its browner colour, and the black-and-white-striped patch on the side of its neck. The tail is notable as the bird flies from the observer; it is wedge shaped, with a dark centre and white borders and tips. When viewed from below, this pattern, owing to the white under-tail coverts obscuring the dark bases, is a blackish chevron on a white ground. This can be seen when the bird stoops to drink and raises its spread tail.

Keep in mind if you like the Doves and do not wish to add the number it can always be omitted by adding the background color instead.

This is the same size as the Partridge in a Pear Tree:
5 1/2" high by 7" wide
It is a three strand punch
Color coded using both Valdani for the background and DMC for detail work.
For sale in my Cottage Etsy Shop:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/briarcottage

Stay Safe and Warm,
Kate
