A Chilly Day

Restoration Spinning Wheel

1800's  I think,

All the Ivory had to be clean, needed some putting together,

This is for spinning flax, Flax Paddel had to be rebuilt, added a design to match the wheel.

The flyer had to be reconstructed,

The whole thing works beautifully now, It's a joy to spin on.

Love to spin, Now what to do with the yarn? I'll think of something unusual!

Red Rabbit Antiques, That Lady over There Antiques, and Briar Cottage Studio will be at the Park next Saturday, Come and visit, should be a wonderful day!

Harvey S. Firestone Park Festival of the Arts

Saturday, August 4, 2012 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Columbiana, Ohio

The Harvey S Firestone Park Festival of the Arts marks the 26th year for the free public event. The Firestone Park festival wa...s known for quality antiques, arts, and crafts and will continue that tradition this year on August 4, 2012 with a juried event.

Proceeds from the Festival goes toward improvement and maintenance of the 52 acres Harvey S. Firestone donated to the village.

The first year for the Festival was in 1983 and offered charter participants preferred site reservations that would be honored each year. The first application spoke of the historic Village of Columbiana and focused on the how Columbiana was situated on western trade routes for territorial expansion and railroad development.

This year’s Festival has been revived through the Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau now a committee of the Columbiana Chamber of Commerce. The Festival will take place on Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 10am to 5pm, rain or shine, and will feature crafts, art, and antiques as in original years. Entertainment, and a 50/50 raffle will also be a part of the day’s festivities.

Concessions will be available as well as free parking.

Rabbit Row is dedicated to all Winkles spring (March, April, & May) (Easter).

Secret Garden is dedicated to all Winkles summer (June, July & August)  (The Fourth of July).

Toad Hollow is dedicated to all Winkles Fall, my favorite (September, October, & November)  (Halloween and Thanksgiving).

Whispering Pines is dedicated to all Winkles Winter (December, January & February)  (Christmas)

Come & Gone

Come & Gone,  in more ways than one! Spring has come and gone and I have to apologize, there was no Spring Open House. I am in a transitional mode. As you know the Cottage has Come & Gone, Yes I miss it also! But life is all about changes, and there has been many. I want to Thank Everyone for your support the past 14 years, because of you my dreams and my love for art have become a reality..... If you don't mind, how about a jaunt down memory lane at The Cottage.....................

So Much Fun

Yea! Spring is on the way! 

 Time to paint some fun colorful items for Spring Open House.

This is a tea pot I painted with a fun fanciful feeling. Sorry, it has sold. I love the colors and the big flower made from polymer clay. It is decorative only, but what a delight to look at. I have been painting, painting, painting. Not unusual for me! The inside of the cottage is freshly painted, Items are being dreamed up for Spring.  But I have to admit, I'm chomping at the bit to get outside, to smell the earth and feel the sun on my face.

I want to thank everyone who joined me for my Christmas Party!

 It was wonderful to see everyone again,

and Thanks to you it was a very successful Christmas Season.

The snow is falling,

Winter has come in with the New Year.

For me it's time to huddle in and start thinking about spring.

 I truly become a hermit in the winter, since I am very afraid to drive in the snow.

Thankfully my studio is at my home, I'm happy as a clam!

Will come quickly, so I'll work hard to bring many new items, for my lovely customers. I had many requests for bird nests with eggs, so I will be working on an original way to bring the nests to you.  If there is anything you would especially like to see please don't hesitate to comment or email me, I will do my best to bring it to the Cottage.
