Amongst the Patch Rug

Yesterday I posted the punch needle version of my new pattern.
 “Amongst the Patch”
Today I’d like to offer the rug hooking/punching pattern available also in my Etsy shop.

This was hooked using yarns and other fibers such as roving, and wool strips.
You can hook yarn instead of using the oxford if you prefer. I hooked this model using primitive hookers linen & a hookers hook. If you are using the oxford punch I do suggest the smallest needle which I believe is the # 13 for the detail work.
I decided to add the black background on this one so I could mount it to hangers for my front door in the fall. You can do the same. Just extend the line from the outer edges. The pattern does not come with this so you can finish the cats head to its form like the below post in the punch needle model.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
Enjoy,

And the world around you,

Tide Pool - Rug Hooking

It's been a year maybe two that this rug has been patiently waiting my return. I'm so happy that its finished. Love it, so very different for me, a touch of modern art. Its hooked using many different fibers including wool strips, yarns, roving (which is spinning fiber merino) & Silk yarn. For now I've decided to enjoy it on the floor in my guest bedroom. And wow... it feels wonderful under foot. Eventually I may hang it on the wall in my bedroom. It measures 4' by 5'.

I can't remember when I haven't had a project on the burner.. it's quite a nice feeling to have all my started projects finished. A clean slate, so to speak....A little inner searching for a couple days ... to search for inspiration  then to the next projects .....  What's in store?

Thank you for stopping by, as always Enjoy,

Kate

Hooking

Good morning!
I started a hooked rug last year and haven’t had a chance to work on it. I’ve Decided  to spend a couple days adding to my my freestyle rug.
Since I follow restricted lines for my punch needle patterns, for this I decided to just let my imagination run. It feels really good for a change.
It will end up being a modern rug....but that’s ok!

My home is an eclectic mix...of my arts from present and past. A complete mush mash of furniture and trinkets collected over the years....most of my furnishings have come from flea markets, friends and the side of the road, Painted or refinished to my liking.
Over the years there has been a multitude of changes in my arts and my home. But antiques will always stay very close to my heart, especially early American..! I don’t own a piece but enjoy looking on Pinterest at everyone else’s treasures.....they are far beyond my budget.

I am a very private person, I spend most of my time alone in my art bubble.
Please be patient with me as I am trying to open my home and my heart to the internet. I do feel I owe my followers this. Till next time, I’m off to hook.

Enjoy,
life, the arts and above all yourself,

Kate

Hooking

FIBER ARTS

I have spent the last couple weeks, making a hooked rug that is long and narrow for a bench in my dining room.  For years I have used the bench for a Knick Knack space. I thought for a change it would be nice with a cushion on top and maybe some pillows. Just after Christmas I always take a little time off for me. Relax the body and clear my mind. So I decided to hook, which is very therapeutic. I am almost finished! The finishing of the edges is all that is needed and that will be done while I watch TV in the evenings. The days will now be spent for a week or so, coming up with designs for my Winkles. If you would like to see the results and process of the hooked bench seat head to my Fiber Arts page!
