Late Night Walk Embroidery Pattern

"Late Night Walk"
Embroidery Pattern

I am now adapting some of my Punch Needle designs to Embroidery....Yea!

Most are redesigned. They have the same feel, but are finished in places that are not included in the punch needle. For instance: the holly at the bottom of the punch is not complete, where here it is. The outer background and edge lines are removed.
They are available as a Printed Pattern or Digital Download.
Just like the punch needle they are also available printed on Weavers cloth...which works beautifully as Embroidery fabric also.
Late night walk is color coded using DMC only. The model is worked using 2 strands, one strand in small places. Stitches are: Long & short, Satin stitch, Chain stitch, and french knots.

Loving the Embroidery & the detail it provides.
Have a wonderful day,
Kate

A Christmas Moon & Auburn hoop frames

 Introducing the Auburn Hoop Frame

"A Christmas moon"

Close up, hello Mr moon

Good Monday Afternoon to you all!

First I am so excited to introduce you to the Auburn hoop frame.
A great alternative to framing. It works just like a normal hoop, except....wait for it...

IT'S ALSO A FINISHING FRAME.
AWESOME RIGHT?
I will be making some more patterns to fit in the various sizes offered. But for now
A Christmas moon fits right into the 8" classic frame!

Now I'm not sure if you can punch in it. I'll let you know,
working on a new pattern and I'll give it a try.

Now for info on my newest pattern.
"A Christmas moon"

It is a 3 strand punch, worked using a 3 strand CTR needle.
It comes color coded using DMC Floss.
It measures 8" in diameter.
the model is punch on weaver cloth.

There is also a video on how to finish it, if you choose not to go for the Auburn frame at

An exciting day, let me know what you think!
Have a wonderful day,
Kate

I just saw a punch, sorry I don’t know your name, but thank you! She or he added a longer loop around the edge to create a fringe as such, loved it! So I gave it a try on this one! So much fun and a wonderful touch, thank you to the person that posted this method!

Hope you enjoy the first of 2018 Christmas punches more to come!

Companion Piece

This years, "Late Night walk Companion 2"

Good afternoon everyone!
I'm Popping in to introduce my companion piece to Late night walk.

I have named it "Late night walk companion 2" in hopes that everyone realizes this piece goes together with last year's Christmas punch "Late night walk".
I will be making it into another pillow like the first. It will be a matching set for the couch. Looking forward to this year's holiday Season.

The pieces measures approximately the same 9" x 7 1/2", The background is punched using Moire thread for a heathered look. Moire wool thread adds such a lovely dimension to the piece. I've stayed pretty true to the colors on the first piece...so they match using DMC floss. It is a three strand punch.

A helpful hint: I do suggest you have this piece pre-printed on weavers cloth...the pinecone will be printed shaded to ease the color choices. I have to admit otherwise the pinecone is a little tricky.

Look for the new punch at my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/briarcottage

Enjoy,
Kate

Happy golden days, of yore.

Faithful friends who are dear to us

Gather near to us, once more.

Through the years we all will be together

If the fates allow

So hang a shining star upon the highest bough

And have yourself a merry little Christmas now!

Olde world santa

As always good Monday morning to you!

I have so much to tell you. Many happenings at The Cottage. First of all, a new pattern has arrived in time for Christmas, "Olde World Santa", A prim offering for all you antiquers out there.

He measures 8" high by 5 3/4" wide. It is a 3 strand punch. Color coded using DMC for the detail work and the New Rustic wool Moire for the background. Pattern # 145.

Now available in my Cottage Etsy shop.

Now my next News: This pattern is now available color printed on fabric. Wow! Imagine the color on the fabric as you punch, so much easier. It is a little bit more expensive, but please keep in mind color ink is expensive as you know if you have a color printer. It is available in the Printed Pattern option for this pattern.

There is another bonus to this: You're not a puncher? Really?
They are framable: Mount like you would any cloth stretched, then framed. WHA, LA !
How much fun is this. Don't stop there, Printed pillows, sew to any background and continue with embroidery to make a wall hanging etc. The possibilities are endless! More on this to come!

There is a new sketchbook page on my blog, link on the right hand side.

I decided to give myself a personal challenge. I have the internet choose a word of the day. Then from that word I draw a quick sketch, no more than 15 minutes. Perks the imagination, but most of all it will get me back to quick sketching. Follow along if you like. Some may also turn into punch needle patterns or watercolor paintings, which I hope to offer on Etsy.

Ok...enough rambling, sorry I'm so excited,
Leave a comment and let me know what you think of the new ventures.

Have a wonderful day, and thank you!
Kate
