Winkle Fairy Furniture

Miniature Bookcase, made with paper clay

A Fairy house is not complete without the addition of a bookcase. I am not a big reader myself, I never seem to find the time. Before bed would be nice, but I fall asleep and don't comprehend a thing. I guess, I was born to work with my hands. But I do love Books!

Miniature Apple barrel
Made with wooden beads, the barrel I have had for many years. I thought it would be nice to incorporate it.

Good morning everyone! Busy day for me today. Many WIP (works in progress) that need finished on the table. A couple more bunnies, A new punch needle pattern, and finishing up a rug hooking I started before Christmas. Stop back if you can, to see the finished work or friend me on Facebook at:

Wishing everyone a wonderful day, Stay warm.    Kate

Fairy "Tails"

Well it's a cold day in Pittsburgh  the snow is falling.
But inside Briar Cottage it's starting to look like Spring. Easter will soon be here and I have been working hard on bunnies as we approach the season. This is the second bunny, he was adorable even from the start. I really never know what is going to come out of this head of mine, except for the fact that it will be some form of Bunny.

All about Fairy Tails---he or she is sitting on a wooden paper mached book that has a painting with clouds and castles.

The book he or she is holding and is made from paper mache, then painted with the same castles and clouds.

The bunny is paper mache with fiber whiskers.

Fairy "Tails"

Is for Sale. Lots of Hand painting on this little fellow. He or She is a one of kind piece. Definitely a must have for EaSTER.

I am asking $69.00 for this little sculpture, plus travel fare. PA tax will be added if you live in PA.
US only.

Fell free to Email me with any questions or to purchase at: KATE

Have a wonderful Day, stay warm!

In my Easter Bonnet

For all my check and strip customers, here's a little bit.

This little bunny is literally sitting in her Easter Bonnet.

In My Easter Bonnet

The first of the bunnies for this year.

This Winkle is one of a kind. The little bunny is made of paper mache, with a hardened linen collar. The bonnet is hand woven with the use of  raffia covered wire and jute. The stand is a brass candle holder, hand painted without the use of stencils, in the checks and stripes I'm known for. Thought I would bring a little bit of it back, by request of  customers.

$39.00 + travelling fees, US only, sorry! Also PA sales tax, if you live in PA.

In my Easter Bonnet, is for sale., If you have any questions or interest please feel free to email me at: KATE

Welcome Home

The Winkle Fairy house is home.
Thank you everyone who braved the cold to visit Kensington Court. I hope you all had fun viewing it, as i have had making it. I think it's time for some furniture. You can't have a fairy house without furniture.

Terrace chair.

My first piece of Fairy furniture how much fun.  I believe if I were a fairy I would love to sit and knit on the terrace over looking the woods or garden.

Made from twigs, a tiny acorn cap, hand made grass paper that I made years ago and had know idea what to do with. Wisteria vine, If you look real close, there is a pair of knitting needles made from straight pins, that have been painted. I also added five or six stitches plus knitted one row, which was a feat in-itself. sheep's wool plus a tiny rose bud.

It needed something else beside it. Yarn in a paper clay basket? The yarn is rolled in tiny balls and is made from Valdani Thread. Adds a little color.

Wishing all a wonderful day, stay warm.

Book written by Sandy M. "The Merry Fairy"

Starting the Furniture a woodland Chair with her knitting basket and knitting needles.

The chair is made with twigs homemade grass paper I made years ago. Rose bud, Sheep's wool for those chilly nights on the terrace and on top a tiny acorn cap. The basket is made with paper mache and little balls of yarn are made with Valdani Thread. Oh and the knitting needles are made with painted straight pins....I did knit one row with the needles....that's all my eyes could handle.

Side Terrace with Chair, The little house still needs painted but I'm calling it the bee house, made of paper mache. I would think fairies watch bees like we watch birds.

The watch clock and key was addition I just had to add....I just love clock parts and watch parts. So this was a must have. The key is hung on the side for quick winding and the pendulum as a little face made from paper mache, to finish off a bead on the end.

Added the Copper Tussy Mussy, I made years ago.
This Fairy house is made with sentimental items and small trinkets Iv'e collected over years.

Notice the clock key in the moss so old it's naturally Verdi-ed, Love Verdi!!!

Please don't forget the Fairy House will be at Kensington Court Antiques,

I can't stop...it's really starting to look like a fairy house now.
Here are some of the little details I've added in the last few days.
I do believe fairies are collectors, things are always disappearing around the Cottage.
Who knows, they may show up here?
